Q: What sort of computer will I need to run Salon Iris

A: Salon Iris is a true 32 bit windows software development & as such it will run on any IBM compatible PC using Windows 98 SE on. However as with all software, installing it on an old and slow computer can often restrict its practical use. The minimum practical specification to run the Standard or Professional versions of Salon Iris would be a computer with a Windows 2000, XP, Vista or 2003 Server 1 GHz or faster 512 Mb RAM 200 Mb or more free hard drive space. Recommended specification would be windows XP (home or Professional) 1 GHz or higher processor 512 Mb RAM 400 Mb free hard disk space. Click Here to view the minimum specification required for the networking version of Salon Iris.

Q: I don't have much experience with computers. How hard is it to learn Salon Iris?

A: It's easy! Salon Iris is very user friendly and comes with a complete instruction manual & tutorial. Also, you can see Salon Iris working with our Movie Demos if you still have questions, you can send us e-mail or call us and receive help. Salon Iris comes with a demonstration database to help get you started. You can experiment with this database until you are comfortable using Salon Iris. After that, you can create your own database. Or you can try our sample database which has been prepared specifically for the UK market, this database includes every thing you need to help you set up your business. It includes sample services & products for hair beauty & tanning salons, you can alter amend or add your own services & products to this database, customise it to your business, by playing with this sample database you will quickly gain confidence & experience in how to set up Salon Iris so that it works they way you want it to work. Q: How can I be sure that Salon Iris is really right for me?

Q: I download and tried the trial version. I like it. How do I buy it?

A: Just contact us. You can pay by credit / debit card by phone, or pay online using Visa & Master card via our secure server, or send us a check(made payable to Salon Iris ltd) Once we receive your payment, we will e-mail you your registration number. You can enter this number on the trial version. This will disable the '10 clients max..' feature. We will also post you a copy of Salon Iris on CD. Remember when you purchase Salon Iris here in the UK you receive unlimited E-mail support & free software updates for 2 years!

Q: Do you provide a data preparation service?

A: Yes we do, we can provide you with a data preparation service. The cost of this service is £400.00 + VAT per salon, for further information about this service please contact our support team on 0870 7665220 or info@saloniris.co.uk Once we have gathered all the relevant information about your business, we can E-mail or post you this information which you can then easily integrate in to Salon Iris. This service includes your current pricing structure, retail products, employee & client (held on an existing database) information. It does not include transferring existing clients data held on manual card systems.

Q: I have a feature I would like added to Salon Iris. Is it possible to get this suggestion added to a future release?

A: Please send us your suggestions! We are continually trying to improve Salon Iris.
When previous versions were released, our clients sent suggestions and we tried to incorporate many features into the new versions. Also, a group of our clients volunteered to be "testers." They gave us feedback and helped make Salon Iris more powerful and easy-to-use. Why not post your feature request on our Users forum

A: All software updates are free for the first 2 years after purchase. Current users of Salon Iris salon software can upgrade to the newest version or a different package by visiting our Updates page. After the first 2 years, software updates can be purchased at reduced prices. Salon Iris free software updates are only available within the first two years after the initial date of purchase (this includes the first payment date under any payment plan or other finance option) software updates are not available free outside this two year period.

Q: Can I link an Employee to a resource room.

A: It is possible to link an employee to a resource room through the "Created by” Option on the ticket screen, this is located on the lower left side of any ticket, by ensuring this option is selected i.e. a staff members name is associated with that resource or service, each time a ticket is created. To ensure that your staff include the appropriate name to this service when an appointment is made, click on TOOLS > OPTIONS > TICKETS > Select "General" on the left side of this screen, this will open the "General Options" section opposite. Then Check the box "Require Created By to be selected" then click the OK button at the bottom of that screen. From the Appointment Book Screen select "View Options" (left hand side of the screen) this opens the "Display Settings" screen under the "Information to show screen" please check the Created By option. Then click the OK button to close this screen. Now each time a ticket is created (or appointment made) before you can schedule that ticket the appropriate staff members name has to be associated to that resource area or service.

Q: Can I have multiple user log-ins to Windows XP and use Salon Iris in each of these log-ins?

A: Please be advised that the use of multiple user accounts or fast user switching within windows XP ( home or Professional ) is not supported by Salon Iris.
We recommend Salon Iris must be installed using an account that has administrative rights and that a single account be used to operate it.

Q: Why didn’t you reply to my e-mail

1. Anti-spam measures on your mail server

We sometimes have problems replying to e-mails due to customers' firewalls and anti-spam software. If our reply to your question is returned as spam, you may think we haven't responded to your question. We have no control over this, and we have to be able to get e-mails to you to provide a support service.


2. Problems on our mail server

If we have an e-mail server outage, you may receive an undeliverable error. If this happens, please call us on +44 (0)870 7665220
