Salon Iris networking uses a true server/client relationship for maximum speed and efficiency. The server computer is a fully functioning computer from which you can take appointments, run payroll, look up clients, etc. You do not need a dedicated server computer or a very high end computer.

Your server computer will be the computer that runs SQL Server 2005 Express (or SQL Server, depending on the number of client computers), holds the database, and is able to make backups of your database. Because the server computer will perform the most work, it should be your best quality computer for optimal performance.

Wide Area Networking (WAN) allows computers at any location in the world to share information over the internet. To do this, you will have multiple locations, each with their own server computer and client computers. All locations will be connected to the Internet, and using a Virtual Private Network (VPN), these locations will be able to communicate by sharing files and information.
